about me
Claire Waldrop (she/her) is a playwright, dramaturg, director, and prose-person.

In her work, Claire often explores intersections; the places where characters meet, where ideologies clash, and where the ways we talk to each other don't work anymore. As an interdisciplinary scholar and writer, of theater and literature, she has never fully understood dichotomies. No matter how disparate the issues may seem, there is always a place where two things can meet. Where nature and industry grow together, where funny and sad are somehow the same thing, where words meld, and where something new can be found. Whether the characters have to interrupt each other, scream, cry, stumble through their dialogue, or leave the intersection entirely–– she wants her characters to find that new conclusion.
In addition to the poetry of intersecting topics, Claire writes a lot about women, the South, women in the South, community, the environment, and the apocalypse. She loves stories that make her think; challenging her understanding of the world and the people around her.
